How many security staff does an event need?
| Factor | Why it changes staffing | What to tell us |
|---|---|---|
| Guest numbers | More guests need more entry and floor staff | Expected attendance and capacity |
| Alcohol | Licensed events usually need SIA door supervisors | Will alcohol be sold or served? |
| Venue layout | Multiple entrances and areas need cover | Floor plan and entrances |
| Profile of the event | VIPs or press may need extra protection | Who is attending? |
For VIP guests we can add close protection officers, and for licensed venues we supply door supervisors.
Martyn's Law and events
The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025 will introduce new duties for qualifying events and venues once it comes into force. Well-trained security staff are central to the procedures it expects, such as controlling entry, evacuation and lockdown. We can help you think through how security fits your plans.

Event Security FAQs
How far in advance should I book event security?
As early as possible, especially for summer weekends and December. For small private events, a few days' notice is often enough.
Can your security staff be discreet at a wedding?
Yes. Officers can wear smart formal clothing and work in the background, focusing on gifts, entry and any uninvited guests.
Do you provide security for festivals outside London?
Yes. We deploy event teams across the UK for festivals and outdoor events.
Do event security staff need SIA licences?
Staff carrying out licensable security activity, such as door supervision at a licensed event, need the right SIA licence. Some steward roles are not licensable, but we will advise what your event needs.
